“An empty-headed person won’t become wise any more than a wild donkey can bear a human child.”
It’s an oldie but a goodie but the saying, You can’t give what you don’t have isn’t just what you were told by people who wanted to seem wise. It’s true.
The bible says, ‘he that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” – John 7:38. But the thing is it has to come from somewhere. That river of water come ‘out’ of the belly because it was there.
What you have is what you can give. With this in mind, ask yourself… what do I have?
In you, is there compassion, joy and the love of God or is there hatred, anger and fruits of the devil?
Knowing that what you have is what you can give, fill yourself with things that are pleasing to God so in every situation, you give out the wonderful contents of your personality and in all things glorify God your father.
You can only give what you have.
