Proverbs 24:28-29

“Be not a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips. Do not say, “I will do to him as he has done to me; I will pay the man back for what he has done.””
‭                 ~Proverbs‬ ‭24:28-29‬ ‭(ESV‬‬)

COMMENT:
The three main points of these verses are very important to remember. Do not deal falsely with your neighbor, do not lie or deceive, and do not seek revenge.

It is so easy to fall prey to these temptations. When someone does us wrong, we naturally want to do to them what they did to us. Our stubborn hearts would prefer to lie even when it is not necessary to. You see? It is in our nature to use sin as our fallback position.

How can we change? How can we choose to do right instead of wrong? Well, the answer is, we can’t. Not without the Holy Spirit. While we are weak, He is strong.

If you truly want to change and not let sin control you, you have to be willing to change. You have to be willing to open your heart and let the Holy Spirit make a change in you.

When we can’t, God can. When we fail and repent, He will not hold our failure over our heads. He will look the other way and forgive us.
