Psalm 105:4

Psalm 105:4
ESV
4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!

I love the word the psalmist used here. He said *continuously * we should continuously be seeking the Lord and His strength.

We shouldn’t sometimes seek the Lord or occasionally seek the Lord, but this should be our lifestyle to always be seeking the Lord. We seek the Lord in worship, in praise, in prayer, in fasting. We seek the Lord because we want to be more like God and understand what His will is for our lives. When we seek the Lord, we approach His throne of grace, clothing ourselves in humility, and have a heart that wants to know what is in the heart of God. We seek the Lord to hear what He has to say and understand Him clearer, but this is something we do continuously.

1 Corinthians 10:12
ESV
12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.

1 Corinthians 10:12
Amplified Bible
12 Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation].

We shouldn’t rely on ourselves and our abilities. We shouldn’t rely on our wisdom and understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us not to lean on our understanding but to acknowledge God in all our ways. Proverbs 19:21 explains that we can make all kinds of plans, ideas, and lists, but God’s will is what will prevail.

Our understanding is limited as God’s is not only the Alpha and Omega (Revelation 22:13) but He is also omniscient (all-knowing). He says His thoughts are not our thoughts, and neither are His ways our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). We have a Father in heaven who knows everything, is all-powerful, and is wisdom, yet we rely on our limited understanding, insight, and wisdom.

We should also seek His presence. God isn’t where sin is. God’s presence is found when we abandon our fleshly desires and live a life of surrender. We seek His face and strength in prayer and the word. God is omnipresent and that means He is everywhere but when we seek His presence we are intentionally pursuing to spend time with Him, in His word, in worship, in silence, for Him and we dedicate the time we have for Him and to spend time with our Creator.

Let’s choose to seek Him, seek His strength, and seek His presence continuously

Jeremiah 29:13
