Psalm 144:10-15

Psalm 144:10-15
NKJV
10 The One who gives salvation to kings,
Who delivers David His servant
From the deadly sword.

11 Rescue me and deliver me from the hand of foreigners,
Whose mouth speaks lying words,
And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood-
12 That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth;
That our daughters may be as pillars,
Sculptured in palace style;
13 That our barns may be full,
Supplying all kinds of produce;
That our sheep may bring forth thousands
And ten thousands in our fields;
14 That our oxen may be well laden;
That there be no breaking in or going out;
That there be no outcry in our streets.
15 Happy are the people who are in such a state;
Happy are the people whose God is the Lord!

Today we are doing a prayer of spiritual warfare. In verses 10-11, David describes something very powerful. He asks for deliverance from foreigners. Often foreigners for the children of God represent the world.

Jesus taught us that we hear His voice and a stranger’s voice we do not follow (John 10:5). We are foreign to the world as children of God the world is foreign to us. We are not of this world (John 17:16). The world is not our home but we are citizens of heaven (Philippians 3:20). The world often lies for us but the biggest liar is the enemy. The kingdom of darkness is filled with lies, and the enemy is the father of lies (John 8:44). He lies constantly and David says here at the end that his right hand, the right hand in the bible often symbolises power. The power of the enemy who is foreign to us and who is filled with lies has false power.

Here David was praying for rescue and deliverance. I want that today, you pray for rescue and deliverance from the power of the enemy, the power of darkness and the lies of the enemy. Cast them away, rebuke them in Jesus’ name.

The other part of this passage is the blessing David prays for. After this deliverance, he prays for stability for the young men. He prays for a mature youth, walking in the ways of God. For daughters who walk the right way, who glorify God. He prayed for blessing and abundance. Before we pray for blessing and abundance we need to pray for deliverance. Without deliverance, even the blessings we have can end up harming us.

David prayed for God to increase the resources, and for blessings not just for the families and whatever they produce but also for the peace of the environment. For safety, for peace and security over the land. I encourage you to take these points:

– The importance of deliverance
– The importance of praying over the youth
– The importance of praying over the work of your hands and environment.

May this lead you to prayer today!
