Psalm 51:10 And A Pure Heart Prayer

Psalm 51:10
NKJV
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

This is one of my favourite prayers to pray. It’s a daily and sometimes hourly prayer of mine. There is nothing more I desire than a clean heart.

So today I wanted us to pray with this scripture in mind. David wrote this after his sin with Bathsheba. This is a psalm of repentance and a prayer of change.

Dear Heavenly Father, I surrender my heart before you today. Lord, you are the only one who sees all of me. You know my sin; you know my struggles and you certainly know my weakness. Lord, I’m imperfect, I’m sinful and I need change. I need my mind to be renewed. I need my heart to be transformed by your power. Cleanse me Lord from wickedness. Lord, you said love does not envy and boast in your word, so my Lord fill my heart with love. Fill my heart with love so I don’t envy, compare or a filled with pride. Help me not to think highly of myself and help me not to feel superior to others. Help me not to be filled with comparison and competition but Lord create in me a clean heart so I can see You. Create in me a pure heart. Create in me a humble heart. Create in me a selfless heart. Create in me a gentle heart. Create in me a caring heart. Create in me a joyful heart when I can be in sorrow. Create in me a peaceful heart when I’m afraid. Create in me a grateful heart when I can be ungrateful. Create in me an obedient heart when I can be disobedient. Create in me a heart that reflects yours. Create in me a heart that serves others and doesn’t desire to be served but rather desires others to feel loved. A heart filled with forgiveness. A heart that is slow to anger. A heart that is diligent and faithful. A trustworthy heart. A heart that does not slander. A heart that does not attack. A heart that is quick to show mercy and slow to condemn. A heart that is not timid but bold.

Oh Lord, as you said ask and you shall receive. If I ask You for a humble heart, surely, You’ll answer, and I shall receive. Though my flesh is weak, and Your grace shall strengthen me to be humble before you. Give me a childlike heart. Give me a heart that cares more about You than anything else. A heart that carries no idols, but the throne of my heart is You Jesus, my Saviour, my Lord and king.

In You I have purity. In You I have a heart transformed. A heart filled with Your word. I thank You for the word You’re faithful to compete.

I love You

In Jesus name. Amen
