Psalm 9:9

“The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.”
~Psalms 9:9 ESV

Comment:
How many times in the Bible does it say that God is our stronghold and refuge? Countless times! It just shows us again and again how weak we are without God.

While we are finite in our strength, the Lord is infinite. There is nothing He can’t do. This is both a comfort and a blow to the pride for us. We are a stubborn people who do not like to admit when we need help or someone to lean on. We trust in ourselves so much that any suggestion of accepting help makes us believe that we appear weak.

But the truth is, we are weak. We are weak because of sin. We cannot survive without help from others. Particularly God. He can grant us supernatural strength if we only cast aside our pride and lay our broken bodies and battered spirits before His throne.

He will grant us what we ask for if we only humbly ask in faith and realize that we can do nothing without Him.
