I understand this verse to be talking of the whole word of God. We shouldn’t just read the word as information but as an instruction manual for how to do life as well. God speaks and instructs us through His word. He tells us how to do work, family and ministry. That’s why when you read the word also read to know what you can apply.
At the end of your bible studies, I want you to ask yourself, how you can apply what you just read in your bible. How can you put into practice what you just read? Is there an instruction, is there something that you can apply?
Obey it. Seek ways to actively include the word in your life. That is how you’ll grow in wisdom. You’ll grow to apply the knowledge you gained to the different situations and scenerios life throws at us. Receiving knowledge and now applying it in a way that you’re able to continue to do the will of God and glory Him.
